Destiny and externalism have one major hitch. If the future “will” has already “happened” then its immutability is as fixed as the past and impossible to change.

What comes naturally in youth, we play out in the self deception of our old age.
Erudition doesn’t come by sporting long hair, wearing a gown/robe and having strange foreign names with a Maharishi/ Swami or Singh at the beginning or end.

The grass is singing

If you can hear the grass singing all sorrow will vanish.
Contentment is state of realisation; living life without passing a verdict either on people, circumstances or oneself is deliverance from unhappiness and despair.
Despair and dejection are among the most common negative emotions that we come to face in our daily lives. These emotions rise as a result of our own judgmental approach towards life that unfolds.
We try to blame someone or an event or even ourselves when something unfavorable happens and our ego is hurt.
Our actions are always directed towards a pre-fixed objective; most common being gratification of the senses or ego. There is no prescription for happiness we must set out to do what we have to and accept the outcome without despair.

The awakened mind does not pass judgment on people or events but remains a silent observer. They will never find fault with others or themselves for failures or victories they have an indomitable spirit for adventure and want to experience every moment of their lives. They don’t control others nor their own thoughts. They have the conviction and strength to accept the outcome of their actions. For them the grass will never wilt under their feet, and is ever green on their side. They are at ease with their desires as it has merged with their self. The lesson is that forbearance, patience and contentment are important in today’s highly materialistic world.-Vinay-

Shaman and spiritual practises of India

India had one of the oldest spiritual practices in the world ,it accepted life in its totality and many westerners were attracted to “spiritual guides “ like Maharishi and Osho. It reached the heights and depths of spiritual thinking without being soulful or serious. In the west they had Shamanism where the ancient spiritual practice was used to heal all ailments. All ancient spiritual systems believed that the mind and spirit are connected and accentuates the fact that we are part of the web of life where everything is connected to everything else in this world.
In India too like the Shaman there were branches of the Occult, Tantra etc in the spiritual belief system, these supernatural forces and events and beings collectively formed part of the practice. The Sun eclipses the moon , Planets and stars often are occulted by other celestial bodies, these are the set of principles that were practiced over centuries.
Indian spiritualism is not a religion but an adventure into one’s own mind a sort of revelation of the soul. All the time we have looked at life in fragments in a dialectic manner, as all religions, denies the body while accepting the soul, thereby presenting a sad and sorrowful picture of life and creating a dichotomy between body and spirit. But in spirituality you can laugh and cry where life is viewed in its totality. The spiritual and Shamanic way believes that all problems /illness have a spiritual cause which manifests itself in the physical body.
The belief is that whenever someone suffers an extreme physical or emotional trauma a part of the soul is damaged carrying part memory of that trauma, this concept is called “soul loss’. Soul loss manifests in many people through feeling of emptiness , loneliness and depression. Shamans use the spirit to track the soul through spirits and bring it back. In Indian spirituality the state of mind is raised to another level of altered consciousness and one enters a different reality, a sort of island surrounded by bliss far removed from the ocean of sorrow and misery of our everyday life.
It is not a prescription for eternal happiness instantly like a medicine pill that one pops in to the mouth as a panacea for all the ailments, but an arduous journey one has to undertake in to a different plane from earth.Spirits incidentally are a misused and misunderstood term, like black magic voodoo practice.-Vinay-

Decision fatigue

Decision fatigue is the newest discovery involving a phenomenon called ego depletion, a term coined by the social psychologist Roy F. Baumeister in homage to a Freudian hypothesis. Freud speculated that the self, or ego, depended on mental activities involving the transfer of energy.
The mental work of ruling or taking decisions case after case, whatever the individual merits, wore them down. This sort of decision fatigue can make sportsmen prone to dubious choices late in the game and C.E.O.’s prone to disastrous dalliances late in the evening. It routinely warps the judgment of everyone, executive and non executive, rich and poor — in fact, it can take a special toll on the poor. Yet few people are even aware of it, and researchers are only beginning to understand why it happens and how to counteract it.
Decision fatigue helps explain why ordinarily sensible people get angry at colleagues and families, splurge on clothes, buy junk food at the supermarket and can’t resist the dealer’s offer to rustproof their new car. No matter how rational and high-minded you try to be, you can’t make decision after decision without paying a biological price. It’s different from ordinary physical fatigue — you’re not consciously aware of being tired — but you’re low on mental energy. The more choices you make throughout the day, the harder each one becomes for your brain, and eventually it looks for shortcuts, usually in either of two very different ways. One shortcut is to become reckless: to act impulsively instead of expending the energy to first think through the consequences. The other shortcut is the ultimate energy saver: do nothing. Instead of agonizing over decisions, avoid any choice

Janmashtami!

Birthday of the Blue God Krishna the eternal lover was celebrated in India.
The collective consciousness find expression through the narrative of mythology and folklore.
Krishna the Blue god embodies all the human qualities of a son, a lover, a father, teacher, philosopher and king, surfacing over convulsions of time to weave the philosophy of everyday life for posterity.
He takes us through the different phases of life, action, knowledge, and spirituality to reach the higher evolved state. The vastness of the Universe like the ocean of the womb, which nourishes life, and our life where the physical, meta physical, and the diabolical aspects of the world meet and finally merge into eternity.
The dalliances with many country maids whom he considered his consorts, is given their liberation by uniting with his source and his own love for them , entering their heart and soul until they merge with him into a constant architecture of cohesive love free of possessiveness. This is the universal love that touches every woman’s consciousness and beyond, till their souls merge into one another into infinity. Krishna is in love with life and all women, and he dances with abandon into every woman's heart with the sheer poetry of love.

Poor and a developed Standard rating.

The downgrading of America’s credit rating has threatened to send the economy of the entire world into a downward spiral. This recession has a lot of lessons about life, if one can interpret the cyclical events of the stock market. It can teach you not to lose your peace of mind and get drawn into the vortex of stress, anxiety and depression.
At the outset one must acquire the maturity to accept both the good and the bad with equanimity. As in life the market too is governed by two of our emotions avarice and fear. All our actions are mostly guided by one of these two emotions, these lead to losses or profits or joy and sorrow. Life is a roller coaster ride enmeshed with the duality of misery and happiness. We might plan our lives carefully, anticipating like a stock broker to book profits when markets open. Life too flows from moment to moment and the future is always uncertain.

Life and stocks are always uncertain and unpredictable and defy all logic, like a pendulum it can swing from ecstasy to dejection, change is the only constant. Sensex and life are about being in the present moment, assessing the situation and taking corrective action, if one veers off course. We can only live in the present and learn to accept that which you can not change. The western trend of consumerism has taught us to live beyond our means, but we are not willing to face the consequences.

Mammon has made morons out of all of us and our life centers around bulls and bears of the market place. We have forgotten to find happiness in the small things.-Vinay-

think negative

Everyone says ‘think positive,’ because they feel it is the easiest way to push out negativity out of the mind. They also attempt to achieve this by various techniques of meditation suggested by different religious paths. True spirituality advises to let thoughts surface irrespective of being negative or positive. One should just witness them. The awareness of the truth of their existence assists in letting them go, or pass on. They should just be felt and experienced and even if they surface frequently, one should not get perturbed or affected. Let them play, because the moment we shun them forcibly or pass on without registering the experience they form a part of the subconscious, to surface during unguarded or weak moments. So beauty lies not in negating the negativity but witnessing it. In such instances one should face the truth that there are still reflections of negativity within, that is why there are negative thoughts.

spiritual scamsters

Suddenly I find a class of persons, all over the net, who so widely, and often unreflectively, introject the voices of others, and psychically identify with those wiser than themselves.
This is a process of psychic inflation, and you can see examples of it everywhere in life, Swamis, Gurus, Mendicants, Spiritual guides, life guides, personal coaches etc, all trying to dupe gullible souls and cash in on the new fangled fads of the internet age. I am trying to guard against it, but it recurs, like bouts of malaria, a new virulent virus spreading rapidly in cyber space.

Fossils of an automobile.

I remember my Dad’s car it was a Peugeot 203 model which I used to surreptiously drive around the neighborhood by lanes when I was 11 years old. Each of the Brands had a different look and character, the Austin A40, Simca Aronde, Volkswagen Beetle, Vauxhall Velox, Citroen, Ford Prefect, Buick, Subaru, Holden and Fiat etc.Cars were different then, each one had different designs not the cloned look one finds in most cars today.
They were not as perfect as today’s technology too, the radiator was never big enough, and the water pumps were never big enough, the head cracked when they got hot. They used to get got hot as engines heated, every moving part—camshaft, crankshaft, rods, bearings, rings, and all the rest—was stressed and finally warped in ways that spoiled the fine tolerances any engine requires. Later some had had coolant and antifreeze, but it was primitive stuff compared to the brews available today. Modern coolant, the green fluid that mixes with water in radiators, is part of the armory of sophisticated engineering that has eliminated heat as a threat to automotive engines. Today millions make the drive between cities as far as 2000 Kilometers in 120-degree heat with the air conditioner on high, driving way over the speed limit and never giving the heat a thought unless they have to get out and buy gas.

Those days were different, some sort of an alternate reality—alternate, but not made up. It was a reality of hardship, suffering, and endurance that we seem to have lost. The past is not another planet; it is another life. The texture of daily living is different now than in the past, more different the further back we look, until we find people whose experiences created a psychology we might find baffling or rude. Many details that once made up the daily round are lost to us because people considered them too trivial to discuss in these days of shiny I-phones and glitzy cars.
Knowing the past means knowing what people carried in their pockets, what they did with their sewage, where their dogs slept, how the cars broke down during trips and strangers rushed to help, the countryside, sun, moon stars basic elements of nature Those details may seem unimportant, but what they convey is not. We in our ignorance take ‘ego credit” for achieving some Gizmos of technology, which has infinitely insignificant contribution. Our children will remember the I pad with the same palpable nostalgia 40 years from now.- Vinay-

Dont mess up your children.

Why the obsession with our kids’ happiness may be dooming them to unhappy adulthoods. They truly did seem to have caring and loving parents, parents who gave them the freedom to “find themselves” and the encouragement to do anything they wanted in life. Parents who had driven carpools, and helped with homework each night, and intervened when there was a bully at school or a birthday invitation not received, and had gotten them tutors when they struggled in math, and music lessons when they expressed an interest in guitar (but let them quit when they lost that interest), and talked through their feelings when they broke the rules, instead of punishing Until, one day, another question occurred to me: Was it possible these parents had done too much? I think so they are not independent, not strong and will find it hard to survive. Most suffered from depression and anxiety, had difficulty choosing or committing to a satisfying career path, struggled with relationships, and just generally felt a sense of emptiness or lack of purpose— They fuck you up, your mum and dad, they may not mean to, but they do.

dont do it it is a sin

The negative approach we were raised with says: “Don’t do it! It’s nasty, it’s sinful, it’s disgusting”. The sexual liberation movement of the ’60s said, “It’s harmless, fun, and good for you”. This is much healthier than the negative approach because it promotes self-acceptance, but doesn’t completely heal the split between sex and spirit. The reunion of sex and spirit comes about when we go one step further by saying, “Sex is sacred, it’s powerful, it’s lasting, and we should approach it with love, with reverence, and with caring
Our social fabric and our spiritual understanding are unraveling because we have through 2,000 years of teaching that sex is sinful and good girls don’t do it, all but destroyed this powerful force whose purpose is to link us together. Physical intimacy is for bonding; it is for communing with spirit and with each other and sensing our place in the whole of creation. Physical union, sometimes in a ritual context, is meant to bond society together. It becomes a divisive force only when we impose artificial limits on its expression, particularly for women, and turn sex into a scarce commodity

Less fidelity

The view that we need a little less fidelity in marriages is dangerous for advocates to hold. It feeds into the stereotype of men as compulsively promiscuous, and it gives ammunition to all the forces, religious and otherwise, who say that families will never be real families and that we had better stop them before they ruin what is left of marriage. But a more flexible attitude within marriage may be just what the straight community needs. Treating monogamy, rather than honesty or joy or humor, as the main indicator of a successful marriage gives people unrealistic expectations of themselves and their partners. And that, destroys more families than it saves.

grief is a private affair.

When you’re talking about issues of life and death, and when we are talking to people that have lost someone. The sense that this is how they lived and the people he loved, what can we do, even though we offer our condolences it’s difficult to understand their pain and sorrow.
We want to acknowledge the griever’s pain, because we also know it as our own. We offer our hand, our clumsy platitudes, a cup of tea. But at some point we itch to move on to our lives, and leave the mourner to move on to his or hers. Not out of callousness, but out of the knowledge that in the end, grief is a lonely and entirely personal place. What we wish for the grieving is that they learn to pull away from the wild, unruly currents of mourning and rejoin us, knowing that nothing we say can really matters, because we know grief’s dark allure. In grief we sound the depths of our love. In that regard, it’s a private privilege. Society has no place there.(Reflections after the bomb blast)-Vinay

do it.

What happens when you are no longer the cynosure of of people around you, when most of your life and passions are spent. All your friends will disappear, you are alone on the return journey from the holiday of life.
Time the psychological enemy of man is now waiting for you, hangs around heavily like an old friend. You nurse a drink reflect on your signature moments, hoping that time will move faster, it does not, a sense of emptiness and desolation envelopes you, suffocating you and surrounding you.
This is the time to break free of the shackles, use the enemy time as a new found luxury to escape the earlier monotony and the now approaching emotional distress. Find a new passion, addiction or love, indulge in it, lap it up, go in search of adventure.
A certain amount of selfishness and self indulgence is required to live a full life in the last lap of the journey. Don’t let old age scare you, wear/don your Nike and just do it.-Vinay-

Standard and poor.

The down grading of America’s credit rating has threatened to send the economy of the entire world into a down ward spiral. This recession has a lot of lessons about life, if one can interpret the cyclical events of the stock market. It can teach you not to lose your peace of mind and get drawn into the vortex of stress, anxiety and depression (pun intended)

As in life the market too is governed by two of our emotions, avarice and fear, all our actions are mostly guided by one of these two emotions. These lead to losses or profits or joy and sorrow. Mammon has made morons out of all of us and our life centres around bulls and bears of the market place. We have forgotten to find happiness in the small things. The issues are real, waiting for our tears to fall to forge a new critical attitude towards both the marketplace and world at large. The issues are also the exemplification of pushing perimeters to break conservative conventions. In a world of spontaneous seduction, and a fleeting sense of awe, this depression can be the symbol of aesthetic advantage. Que Sera Sera….-Vinay-

Dont suppress your urge.

Many believe that the true self lies precisely in our suppressed urges and unacknowledged emotions.Does our ordinary notion of a “ true self” simply pick out a cetain part of the mind? Or is this notion actually wrapped up in some inextricable way with our own values and ideals.?
The true self they suggest, lies precicisely in our suppressed urges and unacknowledged emotions, while our ability to reflect is just a hindrance that gets in the way of the true self’s expression. To find a moment when a person’strue self comes out, they think, one needs to look at the times when people are so drunk, stoned, or overcome by passion that they are unable to suppress what is deep within them.

London Bridge is burning down.

The riots rocking London, spreading throughout Europe and parts of the world are a cruel paradox, when we talk of a global village. When we are entering, a world that is flat and without boundaries these walls of conflict cropping up cast an eerie crooked shadow on the Globe. The euphoria that followed the collapse of Chinese and East Berlin wall is slowly dissipated by this new madness.

Rising standards of living and economy made people more tolerant and democratic. But a stagnating economy and declining growth creates intolerance, ethnic strife, resulting in frustration and social conflict. In India the Gulmohar tree has become the botanical landscape everywhere, as it is hardy, provides shade and beautiful flowers is hardy, provides shade and beautiful flowers. In the same way the minority Parsi community who fled persecution from Persia and settled in India, have in proportion to the population contributed maximum to Indian Business, Industry, Culture and Art.
The Glomohar to originated from distant Madagascar and is not a native. Profiling non native and sons of the soil is a self defeating exercise in these times of progress, when people are viewed as global citizens.
We need to usher in change rather than fight nature to keep things the way they were. The internet operates on a global cyber pace and is a native of the universe. Clashing views have existed ever since the existence of man. By using technology alone does not give us wisdom. Technology is only a medium for exchange but the thoughts that are exchanged define our relationship.

There are no original inhabitants of this earth, we all belong to one family, discriminating on race and creed or nationality misses the lagers holistic picture and perspective.
Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it.
When a person dies we say he has left the earth, never a counting or ration.

In Pursuit of Desire.

Form and effect of a pursuit cannot be predicted from the variables in its context; the pursuit is said to have been an action. In this actions differ from” behavior”.
Behavior is consistent with the variables of its context and is more or less predictable. It can be controlled and reproduced in machines; it supplies constancy to the environment.
Action connotes deeds; they produce innovation, and in concert, a revolution. Actions vanish under observation – they are total victims of the reflexive phenomenon--, that is one reason why innovation becomes habit, and revolutions are lost.
Chasing women is a disposable habit, but a very desirable pursuit.-Vinay-

All of us are caught in the modern struggle to inhabit an identity without being defined by it. We attend meetings, functions and other ritualistic requirements and in trying to meet all demands end up losing the battle with our public image. Not sure who we are, seems like a fix for a problem that did not exist. We would have been better off when the earth was without form, void and darkness was on the face of the deep.
Tired of being on the heights I deliberately went to the depths in the search of new sensations. I never found the middle ground between those extremes, although I glimpsed it. All excess, as well as ruminations, brings its own punishments. -Vinay-

Dance of the Peacock

Humans evolved in small social groups in which image and status were very important, not only for survival; but also for attracting mates, impressing friends and procreation.
The peacock syndrome or tendency to display plumage or cleavage of the impress pea hens or the female / male of the species is a primordial instinct. The neurobiology of even mystical experience arose in part, from the sexual stimuli and response.
Biologically, the best strategy for a man is to be promiscuous, and try to attract as many women as possible to mate and propagate his genes.

Historically women could not afford the luxury of promiscuity, because sex would result in pregnancy of nine months. Women also have a far greater physical, physiological and temporal stake in producing children & hence are selective in their choice of men.
It is this promiscuous mental nature of men that is exploited by advertisers and marketers, selling products which are signals first and material objects at a secondary level. Expensive cars, yachts, mansions are wasteful but signals a blatant display of power and wealth which serve as strong mating signals to attract reproductive rewards –( women)

The billion dollar cosmetic industry also thrives on the women who want to appear, sexier, younger & more fertile. Sexual selection is only skin deep and focuses on external appearance rather than other intrinsic qualities. So women use cosmetics to fake their fertility like fake orgasms to create their own magic and mystery, a communication strategy designed to trap the best mate.
While societal pressure may not allow a man to be as promiscuous as he wants to be, the need is still felt strongly at a subconscious level. So he accessorizes himself with a flashy Ferrari, Porsche, and SUV, to project the alpha male image in the mating arena.-Vinay-

Neural Impulse.

Scientists, Biologists, Psychologists are all trying to unravel the mystic secrets of the mind after noticing that people with highly developed religious feelings tend to be afflicted with temporal lobe epilepsy. Psychiatrists also found that a compound like DMT triggers mystical visions, almost akin to spirituality.
By exploring people’s consciousness to dig out evidence of how the brain’s processing takes place they tried to understand the metaphysical experience of spirituality. The last frontier of science the spiritual side of human beings is also being laid bare by neuroscientists.
In conclusion they state that the neurology of mystical or spiritual experience arose, partly from the mechanism of the sexual response, triggered by DMT produced in the pineal gland. There is a similarity in nomenclature to another organ in the human anatomy.

Is Religion an inherited belief?

The die is cast even before we are born; we adopt Christian, Muslim, Hindu or other faiths, which are thrust upon us. Most religions are part of our cultural identity and an intrinsic part of our parent’s profile. The truth is we are not what we believe, but our belief system is decided mostly by family and culture.
Liberty is given a high priority in today’s world, where multiple choices await us for selecting our wardrobe, food, education, friends, entertainment and ideology. But when it comes to religion we are forced to accept the faith we are born into.
To follow a religion we need to believe in its tenets, it cannot be an inheritance like a house, car or family heirlooms.
Atheism is also a belief system akin to a religion, it is important for parents to unshackle their children from their own conditioned ideology and let them decide whether they want to believe it or not. Religion cannot be treated as a cultural convenience, where we are taught to know what to do – from the time we are born till we die. We need the mind to be free from prejudice and fear to transcend the physical realm and merge with the higher universe. –Vinay-

Freedom at midnight and corruption at dawn.

India has been unfortunate to have had an entire generation of politicians and ministers, who since Independence and freedom from colonial rule, have dedicated themselves to the cause of corruption.
After the British left the sense of belongingness to the nation ended. Corruption starts where patriotism ends.
It is when you feel so insecure and think that money is the only power or strength, then you become corrupt to the core, thereby driving the country into the morass of crime and corruption.
Now we have to embark on another struggle towards freedom from corruption.-Vinay-

Free will.

What is free will and thinking if we cannot voice our thoughts freely! Though our minds have the power we are constrained by the frame work of our societal and religious systems. Religious and the cultural Juggernauts derived by society and spiritual heads want to rein in our freedom and we are halfway between reality and fantasy. Everyday looking at the world we wake up to new aspirations and ideas but are afraid to voice it for fear of offending the established belief systems. Attitudes to religion, war, morals and the meaning of life are changing rapidly since Darwin’s iconoclastic theories. Our ideas need not subscribe to established values; it is one of the hazards of radical thinking. Genuine ideas can communicate before it is understood and no one can control its reception, despite a flood of iteration from Institutions with their own sterile ideas.
Thoughts can euphorically over blow cherished relationships with the masses, if we shrug off the mystique and are confident about our own self created ideas. We must eschew the bitterness that is buried inside all of us. Knowing others pain as your own can be a liberating experience, for which one needs to be pro-active in empathy, which will guide us to kindness and co-operation with the universe. Hatred, sleaze, defiance and thoughts are the wasteland which forms fragments of our imagination; and the shock of uncomprehending humanity has lingered in the chambers of our heart. Our work is never finished, we wake to the sound of human voices which is something that transcends and transforms our ideas which form when we look at the world. We see the mirror of our life. –Vinay-

Power tends to Corrupt and absolute power corupts absolutely!…

If there were no rules, would we be corrupt?
After all, only when there are rules can they be upheld or broken or bent, do we need rules regulators to watch over society?
Many leaders get to the top by imposing their will on others and destroying people who stand in their way. They develop a paranoid imposter complex, caused by deep insecurities within them, they find scapegoats to blame & using their power, charisma & communication skills, they force people to accept their distortions and in the process even nations lose touch with reality.
However noble their cause, we should beware of such men who would be like Caesar’s. When corruption corrodes our society and destroys lives, we wake up and government goes into denial. Can anyone win a war against corruption? The battle has just begun. Change is not a road map; it is the first stone David hurls against a Goliath. Fighting corruption is not a simple battle but a long drawn out war that has no end.-Vinay-

Life is the miracle

Life is full of miracles, minor middling and major, but you must be able to discern it.
Our journey in life is exhilarating, disappointing or mundane, but every moment is a learning experience. You have to be alert and awake to understand the thrill and joy you want to create in your mind. Freedom is simply an opportunity to find a definition for yourself, to know the truth, knowledge, smell the roses and beauty on earth.
When you are not free, you live in fear, that does not allow you to grow, intolerance and erosion of our own personal freedom stifles the celebration of our journey.
An insight into the universe would not be merely illuminating but is the key to a truly rewarding experience in life. What matters is that in this life, you will do something that makes somebody happy; it does not matter if they are not aware of it. That is the serendipity of being alive and the miracle of being yourself.-Vinay

cyber thoughts

All of us are caught in the modern struggle to inhabit on identity without being defined by it. We attend meetings, functions and other statistic requirements and in trying to meet all demands end up losing the battle with our public image. Not sure who we are, seems like a fix for a problem that did not exist. We would have been better off when the earth was without form, void and darkness up was on the face of the deep.

Tired of being on the heights I deliberately went to the depths in the search of new sensations. I never found the middle ground between those extremes, although I glimpsed it. All excess, as well as renovations, brings its own punishments.

The greatest gift you can give someone is your time, Because its like giving a portion of your life that you can never get back .
We have always believed we can change overnight stripping, off our ornate marks and put on a different looks on our face. We want to put our old passions out of sight and find new days relieved of all that we regretted. But something always stays and we will not be outwitted and so we stumble. And the rain continues on the roof with such a sound of pitying laughter!

Fatal Attraction!

Fatal Attraction!
Can evolutionary psychology take the mystery out of how we meet and mate?

Evolutionary psychology sees the mind as a set of evolved psychological mechanisms, or adaptations, that have promoted survival and reproduction. One branch of evolutionary psychology focuses on the distinct mating preferences and strategies of men and women. For example, because our male ancestors were easily able to sire numerous children at little cost to their fitness, the theory says, they were inclined to short-term mating with multiple partners. In choosing mates, they gravitated toward youth and physical attractiveness -- markers of fertility and health.
By contrast, females, for whom conception meant pregnancy and the need to care for a child, were more selective, searching for long-term commitments from males with the resources and willingness to invest in them and their offspring.

Psychologist David M. Buss in 1980, found marked similarities across cultures, including a female preference for men with resources and status that persisted even when women had considerable resources of their own. Overall, women valued financial resources in a mate twice as much as men did.

Sunset Boulevard.

This movie traces the centrifugal forces of human essence that pushes all of us forward in to the future and poignantly captures the curse of living life without being able to realize our dreams.. We all try to find the truth that will set us free that can translate our dreams into reality. However the tensions of daily life influence our behavior and we cannot be our natural selves.

We often refer to common sense, which is difficult to pinpoint. It is actually, observations, insights, and wisdom that we accumulate over a lifetime. Cold logic is like a cutthroat razor, it can also make the hand that uses it bleed. Common sense also refers to the knowledge acquired by people and professionals like Doctors, Lawyers and Engineers which are acquired by experience over the years.

The altered perception obtained by experience enables the aspirant to shed his ego and see the universe in a different light. Evocative image of oblivion engulfing the sunset years can blur our normal vision. Fading away memories is a scary state and probes the duality between reality and illusion; like bouts of wanton amnesia, compelling us to question our own insensitive approach towards life. I am continuously intrigued by the complexities of human relationship and fascinated by the spirit behind our survival. Our cultural commodisation in this consumerist milieu has obliterated the aesthetic panorama of our projected dreams. The knowledge of life is slowly extinguished, as we await the “close up” of the dawn of death.

The memory will fade with time, as with all things of mis fortune. Everything becomes obvious once you know the answer to obtaining one’s objective and realizing our dreams and aspirations. Otherwise watching the sunset in our lives, will be another force!-Vinay-

stray thoughts

At the end of your life, you will find that the things, you thought were the big things were actually the little things, and that all those things, you thought were the little; unimportant things were actually the big ones. Ancient wisdom.

We all lead parallel lives; each one is looking at a different direction or path. It doesn’t matter where you go in life, as long as you climb a mountain, go to the beach and walk on the seashore. Because all the answers are within you, and deep inside, you know who you are and which path you want to take. Free the spirit and you can feel the “still” amidst the chaos. Equipoise is when you balance the waves of the seas within and outside.
Most of the beautiful people who shine on the world stage are dark inside, disillusioned and disconnected with the real world. Is it the cruel world that breaks them, or is it the spotlight that attracts there broken souls?
Like the will – o – the wish on marshy ground, theirs is an illusion that misleads.

The Hyperbole of the ox.

The castration of a young bull by nomads in Anatolia after about 8000 B.C. was doubtless a superstitious and barbarous sacrifice. But it produced an ox, which was the first drought animal. With that beast, the nomads could settle down, cultivate the soil themselves, and think of philosophy and writing.
In English we can keep sight of of the primacy of the ox,since it has been given, the two most universal abstract symbols; the circle and the cross, the whole and the denial. The wholeness of the bull was sacrificed, cancelled.
Thou shall not muzzle the ox who treadeth out the corn. Later the bible the , the testament, and Moses took over and we don’t know whether the verses were meant for its relevance to agriculture, or for its meaning in our lives

Spiritual stocks of life.

At t he outset one must acquire the maturity to accept both the good and the bad with equanimity. As in life the market too is governed by two of our emotions, avarice and fear, all our actions are mostly guided by one of these two emotions. These lead to losses or profits or joy and sorrow. Life is a roller coaster ride, enmeshed with the duality of misery and unhappiness. We might plan our lives carefully, anticipating like a stock broker to book profits when markets open. Life too flows from moment to moment and the future is always uncertain. Life and stocks are always uncertain and unpredictable and defy all logic. Like a pendulum it can swing from ecstasy to dejection, change is the only constant. Sensex and life are about being in the present moment, assessing the situation and taking corrective action, if one veers off course.

We can only live in the present and learn to accept that which you cannot change. The western trend of consumerism has taught us to live beyond our means, but we are not willing to face the consequences.

The creative purpose of life.

Creativity is the purpose of life, even if it goes against some of our premises. The purpose of life is not to live in passive acceptance of regressive situations but to engage in conflict in order to be creative.
Mahatma Gandhi fought peacefully against Apartheid and British rule, Dalai Lama chose to live in exile than peacefully in Tibet, Aung San Sau Kyi and Nelson Mandela suffered in jail and solitary confinement. Einstein opened the boundaries of scientific knowledge while James Joyce did the same in the world of literature
.
Conflict is the duality we have to face in life, a post mortem of the conflicts and economic crisis points to shared culpability across individuals, institutions and government organizations. Leadership need not necessarily come from the top. Determined people relentlessly pursue legitimate objectives in an immoral world.
Group discussion, consensus building, and persuasion are all crucial for change.
Conflict often plunges many leaders into their baser instincts.

As the movie “Wall Street” depicts this conflict, when Charlie Sheen is torn between the moral and ethical upbringing he received and the allure of wealth and power that beckon him as an unethical stock broker. It prompts deep reflections on the emotional intelligence that must underpin true leaders who have redefined the purpose of our lives

Change your Expiry Date

Change is inevitable, and the external forces that factor this change are not in our control. The world of business is changing so fast that stability is a luxury we cannot afford. The trend of machine intelligence is growing exponentially and “homo sapiens” may no longer be the dominant species in this planet.
The world is transforming, policies, regulations, markets and technology at the speed of thought; to survive and flourish in this era of change or stay ahead is like harnessing a tsunami wave and riding its crest. With this phenomenal advance in technology and thinking, all spiritual insights will have a limited shelf life. Quaint truths of a bygone era will be footnotes in history. Replication of the DNA will occur continuously like a serpent shedding skins every retiring year, a random selection of natural mutations, our response to significant needs and opportunities.
Under such conditions how can the ancient codes of spirituality exist? The million dollar question is, are all spiritual truths engraved in stone, or merely contextual? Change does not warn you, it hits you, you have to pre-empt change and be prepared to add value to a fickle, fad prone, society. Just like the ‘Stone Age’ aboriginal creation myth doesn’t concern us anymore, so too our beliefs to post digital humans who will come after us.

The genetic tendencies are too strong, to miss the point as there are hundreds of examples of outdated beliefs that are extinct today. Knowledge is our only hope for survival. What works today will not work tomorrow. The future is a continuous present, being built in a day. So reinvent yourself or be left behind as a fossil. The answer my friend is blowing in the winds of change! _Vinay-

Origins of ancient religion.

In the beginning…was a very female sea. For two-and-a-half billion years on earth, all life-forms floated in womb-like environment of the planetary ocean-nourished and protected by its fluid chemicals, rocked by the lunar-tidal rhythms. It is believed that the menstrual cycle originated here, organically echoing the moon-pulse of the sea.
And, because this longest period of life’s time on earth was dominated by marine forms reproducing parthenogenetically, it was concluded that the female principle was primordial. In the beginning, life did not gestate within the body of any creature, but within the ocean womb containing all organic life. There were no specialized sex organs; rather, a generalized female existence reproduced itself within the female body of the sea.

Before more complex life forms could develop and move onto land, it was necessary to miniaturize the oceanic environment, to reproduce it on a small and mobile scale.
Soft, moist eggs deposited on dry ground and exposed to air would die; life could not move beyond the water-hugging amphibian stage. In the course of evolution, the ocean – the protective and nourishing space, the amniotic fluids, even the lunar-tidal rhythm was transferred into the individual female body. - Discovering our Ancient religion –Cosmic mother earth.-

In praise of mistresses

One mans food is another man’s poison and vice versa, all of us are guided by an inner moral compass. Our earlier conditioning tells us that cheating or infidelity is wrong, we see only black and white, shades of grey do not form part our morality code. However with the onset of age we tend to take a more mature view of life.

Extra marital affairs are always looked down upon, and women bear the brunt of this, as they are viewed as home wreckers and temptresses. Even if you are happily settled with your partner, you can still be totally incompatible and have nothing in common with your partner. When you don’t have common interests, or intellectual stimulation, life can be boring, bordering on depression and the loneliness becomes unbearable.

Just like the duality that surrounds us, you can have a double life, with a partner who makes you happy, has everything you imagined. Some times one does not plan these things, it just happens and the glow comes back into your life. When you are happy your home becomes happy (till they find out). It is not just sex but sharing the world view from a different bed.
Under the guise of patriarchy, all life is dualized; women are also dichotomized, cut in two. There is the “good little” ovulating wife” who is supposed to be passive, cook, clean and bring up the children; it’s hard for her to be sexy after washing, cooking and cleaning the toilets all day. And then there is the ‘witch’ seductress, sensual mistress, dynamic, oozing sex out of every pore, sharing all his interests, but is castigated by society for creating happiness. Happiness should come first, everything else later. And any person who gives happiness cannot be bad.-Vinay-

The female of the species is deadlier than the male.

Many animals, not just spiders – make plugs of mucus to seal the female’s orifice after mating. There plugs are to stymie other suitors and is reminiscent, of the chastity belts, which ensured paternity rights.

However the females of Leucauge arguna, a Central American species of spiders have subverted this and create plugs by themselves, this is to ensure that if they come across a better male, they can get rid of the earlier sperm. In the case of male spiders, the equivalent of a post coital cigarette is not a sensible option, making straight for the door is a better option, if you hang around the female consort will devour you, this may be a defense mechanism to deny rivals their male consorts sperm

The invisible Truth.

Seeing the truth when it might be invisible
I’ll believe it when I see it. This is a problem. to work your way through life only believing what you could see and touch, only caring about what impacted your life right now.
The base of knowledge we have about the world has increased exponentially, and that knowledge compounds. Electrons and ozone and game theory and databases might all be invisible, they might be beyond your understanding, but they’re still important, still looming right at the edges of the life you live right now.

And second, of course, is the notion of a worldwide web of information, a system that brings every bit of news and data and discovery right to your door. While you may want to disbelieve what’s happening around you, that won’t make it go away, and what’s “around you” is now a much larger sphere than it ever was before.

Thus, two kinds of serious errors: believing in invisible things that aren't true, or insisting that the truth might not be. They're caused by fear, by deliberate misinformation and by being uninformed.

The Retired Explorer.

We wait until we retire to explore life and the universe around us. All our lives we lived unquestioningly under the stifling rules of society, workplace and religion, a sort of inherited orthodoxy. Each person has an inner sense of divinity, which inspires and guides them in their life, and they can develop that sense in their own unique way.

I loved my freedom and broke free from the shackles that curbed my thinking and creativity at an early age, and lived my life without religious or social divides and developed an expansive heart.
The thread of colorful defiance running through the rich fabric of an inbuilt spirituality has influenced my thoughts; it is a philosophy, which enabled me to surrender, and enjoy the enchantment and this of life.

What you take from life is yours, but what life takes from you, can never be questioned. I’ve always had a sort of kinetic energy to explore the world and subtle relationship with humanity. These magical insights may be a symbol of our ancestors. People have forgotten their ancient philosophical roots, and therein lies a tale of sorrow and discontent. –Vinay-

Shades of Grey.

The stories from the Internet, TV and Movies are all in color hence you cannot see the soul. In reality as you flip through life, you will see the sense of pathos, pity, misery and even joi de vivre, which spills out in a million stories of the human spirit in shades of grey or black and white.
Even in matters of the mind and in developing our metaphysical mind in the dark recesses of our mind, there are a million shades of grey. Even the dark clouds and the rain which gives sustenance to life are shades of grey and without the rain and clouds there can be no rainbow at the end of our lives. ¬-Vinay-

No more clutter

Thanks to the Internet age, I have been able to clear my mind and outsource all my work.
All my appointments and schedules are in the “organizer”,~ my family, friends and photo albums are in “picasso”, ~ my reference notes, office work and books are on”Kindle”, my black book contacts as well as milkman, mechanic, dentist, and mother in law are preserved on my mobile “contacts” list:
My social life, getting in touch and chatting with friends, long lost relatives, old flames, wooing and flirting with new girls/ women, posting sweet nothings and messages is through Facebook. I purchased some artificial intelligence for emergencies. I am relieved,my head feels lighter, and I have become the perfect Moron.
The only problem is due to lack of memory cells, I have to watch Arnold Schwarzenegger's “Total Recall” on my I pad to locate/remember my passwords and T-pin numbers.-Vinay

Fall in love many times.

It is a false premise to think you can love only once, true love appears again and again as there are many people around with whom you can fall in love again. Initially when you are heart broken, we feel something inside our hearts has died and we can never again love with the same intensity, this is fallacy.
Out of the blue you will meet another person and the alchemy will work again. So it is no illusion you have the capacity to love many people, many times, this is the reality. As Schweitzer puts it" In everyone's life. at some time our inner fire is doused. It is then burst into flames with an encounter with another human being. We should be thankful for those people who rekindle our inner spirit.

An insane world.

For along time I thought I was abnormal, as my mother constantly berated me to “act normal,” and later my wife kept on repeating “you are mad” at whatever I did.
I used to be jealous of the millions of normal guys, the regular guys who were termed as ideal husband/father material.

It was very much later, after a series of incidents that I realized that most of these people, I meet, shake hands, and envied earlier had no minds of their own. They are raging idiots and clinical depressives. Now during meetings, cocktails and functions, I realized that all those regular types, with their dapper clothes, acting in a politically correct manner, cracking jokes, making appropriate statements and blessing everyone
With a superior attitude are all depressives.

Three out of five are even basket cases, our country works because of this endemic clinical depression. Some take to medicine, some become seriously religious, others become spiritual and the rest end up in Looney bins.
I take my Nexito 10 to stabilize my serotonin levels, I don’t need hormones I have my wine, I have my sex on the side, but I am in a minority, a sane guy in an insane world.

The Art of Seduction.

Seduction is an art that was used from Biblical times when Eve seduced Adam with her apples! It has been a driving force in the world since then, men, women and children use it in their lives. Be it love, politics, business or the corporate world, seduction is the critical tool. Seduction is a constant surprise, even if one is just flirting, it makes it mysterious.
In countries like France it encompasses everything not just a sexual con notation –it is persuasion, attraction, influence and soft power, extending even to gastronomy. Seduction is an undercurrent more subtle than flirtation or sexual desire; it is playfulness and the heightened art of desire, which can at times, become evil, like a powerful man seducing a woman.

Seduction has to do with process, not the result, if there is a winner there has to be a result. The recent appointment of the attractive Mrs. Hina Rabbani Khar by an Islamic fundamentalist state like Pakistan has thawed an intractable subject like In-do- Pak relations in just one whirlwind visit. The Indian media, politicians and Pak bashers were all seduced into submission.
Beauty has gone deeper than skin into our psyche. Sarkozy was perceived anti seductive, because of his fierce tempers, didn’t take alcohol and did not take pleasure in social intercourse.
One need not be pretty or handsome in the conventional sense, (though it helps) but must definitely possess great charisma, be able to carry out a playful and intelligent conversation, ready wit, it has to do with verbal banter, perhaps flirtation, or simply conversation that goes on and on into the wee hours, like the heady scent of perfume lingering in the air. So take the cue, take pleasure and indulge yourself

Writers Narrative

The condition of an enlightened mind gives a burst of emotional and spiritual expression.
The writer’s narrative transfers its energy through correction and personal experience and pulls the reader into his world. The world is an alternative society, governed by the writers love and not societal law. Hectoring, proselytizing, vows / oaths, fierce confrontation is not to make enemies but to draw the slothful and reluctant into a relationship with the writer’s ultimate society.

Sexuality can be channeled through words, a key element in raising the mind to a state of heightened sensitivity. The writer uses the language of words and metaphors to reach insight or vision and make it available to the reader and make him enter the next realm. This is the realm of truth free of attribute, non figurative, where the writer finds the description of spiritual reality to be a human limitation, a projection of personal fear, desire, and expectation rather than a true assertion about the personality of the Universe.

The fairer and superior sex.

Man- Woman equality is a myth the “he” is already in”she” and twice again in (wo-man) and Adam is inside “M-adam”. A woman is infinetely superior to man in myriad ways: her patience, her compassion, and paramount ability to sacrifice, leaves men far behind in the race- that matters, the race tobuild/raise a family with meaningful values which forms the foundation of society.
